The first phase of a larger masterplan for an old Victorian farm house in Marden, Kent. The existing tired pool garden has been transformed into a welcoming, clean, contemporary space in which to swim, relax, dine and entertain. Two louvred pavilions mirrored at either end of the swimming pool provide dappled shade beneath a dining terrace at one end and entertaining space surrounding the outdoor Fireplace at the other. Materials were selected to work sympathetically with the colours of the tiles and bricks used in the house, but also bringing a sense of modernity to the garden. Native planting of Field Maples, Crab Apples and Wild Cherries anchor the garden into its’ rural and agricultural setting; instilling a strong sense of place.

Simple louvred, Oak pavilion with outdoor fireplace. A perfect place to sit late on into the evening with friends and family in the pool garden. A slatted cedar trellis creates a backdrop to the area, screening a herbaceous long border behind.

Pleached Carpinus betulus trees line a main axis out towards the lawn banks and tennis court beyond. Salvias, Persicaria and Deschampsia create a wild yet structured planting scheme for all year round colour and form.
