Zero waste was at the core of the ‘Sleeping in Nature’ installation in London; a collaboration with cabin makers Out Of The Valley as part of the Planted Cities biophylic design event in Granary Square, Kings Cross.
Flexible containers were filled with ephemeral planting to immerse the cabins and evoke the spirit of the late summer meadow; a sanctuary in the city for a weekend. Layering of colours and textures with a refined palette of perennials and ornamental grasses created a humble planting scheme driven by sustainability; materials and transport were kept to a minumum and finding a home for absolutely everything after the event was key to the success of this high impact design with low carbon footprint.
